WELCOME to the JRemedies Natural Health Newsletter!

Hello All!

I have been busy preparing for a lot of great new things to look forward to.  I am just about complete with my certification as a Natural Health Practitioner to top my Arts & Science Degree.  Although I do not plan on opening up a practice right away, I do want to continue offering classes to everyday people like you and me on Natural Health Subjects.

I will post my class schedule at a later date and am also extending my services to providing small scale seminars to businesses and groups on subjects pertaining to natural health and wellness.  If you or someone you know is interested, you can contact me personally at NaturalSkin@JRemedies.com for more information.

Look forward to subjects like making your own probiotics at home, whether or not natural supplements are truly safe, how to grow organic nutrient dense food in your home garden, massage therapy and how to make your own massage oil, introduction to herbalism, natural mothering: cloth diapers, nursing, and healthy snacks, and much more to come!

On a second note, I wanted to touch base with you all on the importance of proper skin care as the weather starts to get colder here.  Most people know that as the weather gets colder, our skin gets drier.  There is less moisture in the air as it starts to freeze, and the climate we face effects our skin.

Skin is more than just some shield that holds water into our body.  It is our largest organ, and we cannot live without the sensory information it gives us.  Imagine living without the sense of touch, without regulated body temperature, and without defense to keep harmful bacteria away from our inner organs, and you may see why I stress the importance of caring for this organ which so many take for granted.

Now, as I was saying, the weather is getting colder.  The rotation of our earth is changing, and our distance from the sun is farther, and therefore, the weather is changing to the cold season's ahead with which many share a love-hate relationship.  Love the first snow fall, hate it when there are too many!

One of the first defenses our body has against harmful bacteria and viruses is- you guessed it- our skin.  Rule 101 of not getting sick is commonly "Wash Your Hands".   But...  what if our hands are so dry they crack and expose those harmful little bugs directly to our blood stream through an open cracked sore?  And, to those who really like to get into the technical stuff- what about the BENEFICIAL bacteria and yeasts living on our skin that help to FIGHT OFF the harmful bacteria, yeast, and viruses???

(Bet some of ya didn't know that there are actually GOOD bacteria, did ya?  That's because our society teaches us that bacteria are BAD because the bad bacteria are so useful in scaring you into buying things like Anti-Bacterial Soaps, and Alcohol Gels that kill 99.9% of "germs".  It wouldn't sound as good in the commercial if they explained to you about the good bacteria that are killed too!  And, it would probably make the commercial even MORE unappealing if they included what such products can do to your INSIDES if accidentally ingested...  imagine a kindergarten kid licking their fingers from a bite of sandwich right after WASHING THEIR HANDS for lunch and not fully rinsing and drying their hands... yeah I bet most moms know the realty of THAT happening...  But here I am rambling, and should save this for another newsletter topic.)

Now, Don't Get Me Wrong, I am definitely NOT saying that you shouldn't wash your hands.  This is a GREAT idea that has really helped prevent the spread of germs.  It is scientifically proven.  But what I am saying is that the DAMAGE from excessive hand washing (especially in cold months) will not be AS successful as hand washing combined with proper nutritionally and herbally based moisturization.  Stronger skin equals stronger defense.  Properly moisturized and protected skin equals stronger skin.  And THAT's my point.

I strongly suggest checking out the hand (and foot) creams provided by Jozlyn's Remedies.  They are made with 100% All Natural ingredients.  They also use organic food grade ingredients so you know they are Pure.  The Hand Beautifier is great for general moisturizing and strengthening nails and cuticles.  The Workman's Hand Cream is great for calluses, rough hands with flakey skin and/or cracks or sores.  I have several nurses who swear by it, let alone several hard working men who appreciate a product that includes herbs that are pleasing for both sexes.  The Foot Rejuvenator is soothing and cooling and moisturizes enough to help combat cracked heals, a great gift for diabetics.

Washing with a mild soaps (such as their natural handmade soaps) in combination with these great creams can not only give you beautifully healthy skin, but will also help protect you more during these colder months.  For the rest of your body, there are also massage oils and body creams featured on the website.
